Militant of ISIS Detained in Georgia

The Anti-Terrorism Center of the State Security Service of Georgia reported today about the detention of a militant from the Islamic State (ISIS) terrorist group on the territory of the country.

According to the agency, the detainee is a Georgian citizen, Malhaz Paksashvili, who left the country in 2013 to move to Syria and join the Islamic State.

“From 2013 to 2015, Paksashvili was part of the armed group of the Tokhossashvili brothers and actively participated in the military operations conducted by the ISIS terrorist organization and its organized terrorist acts,” the State Security Service of Georgia stated.

If found guilty, Paksashvili could be sentenced to 10 to 17 years in prison.
