Vigen Nazaryan Begins Tournament with Victory at Wrestling European Championship
The European Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling has kicked off in Zagreb. The Armenian team, consisting of 10 wrestlers, is participating in the tournament. Today, Vigen Nazaryan (87 kg), Rudik Mkrtchyan (55 kg), Hrachya Poghosyan (63 kg), world and European champion Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg), and Davit Ovasapyan (130 kg) are competing.
Vigen Nazaryan was the first to step onto the mat. In the qualification round, he secured a victory against Polish wrestler Arkadiusz Kulinic with a score of 8-7.
Rudik Mkrtchyan will start his competition in the quarter-finals against Turkish wrestler Adem Burak Uzuni. Hrachya Poghosyan will also begin his quarter-final match against the winner of the bout between Austrian Aker Schmid and Croatian Ivan Lizatovich. Malkhas Amoyan will compete in the Round of 16 against the winner of the match between Croatian Antonio Kamenyasevic and Swedish Pera Albin. Davit Ovasapyan will face German wrestler Franz Richter in the Round of 16.
