Lithuania to Disconnect from Russian Energy Grid for the First Time in History

Lithuania's authorities will disconnect from the Russian energy grid for the first time in history, thereby completely severing all energy ties with Moscow. This was reported by Moscow Times.

This information is outlined in the statement from the country's Litgrid network operator. “For the first time in history, Lithuania's energy system will operate fully independently, so we are taking a responsible approach to preparing for the test and will be ready for all scenarios. The trial disconnection will take place on Saturday from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM local time, during which Lithuania will switch to its own energy sources and will also import electricity from Sweden and Poland,” said Lutgrid's CEO Rokas Masiulis. According to him, Lithuanian consumers will not notice the disconnection from the Russian energy grid.
