G7 Plans to Coordinate to Mitigate Risks of Gas Exports from Russia
The "Group of Seven" considers it essential to coordinate actions aimed at reducing the risks associated with gas exports from Russia. According to the newspaper "Izvestia," this information is outlined in a joint statement from the G7 ministers responsible for climate, energy, and environmental issues, released today following a meeting in Japan.
"We reaffirm the G7's commitment to achieving net-zero emissions across the entire fossil fuel extraction and production chain by 2050," the statement reads.
Additionally, G7 ministers announced their intention to monitor the situation concerning gas supplies from Russia, labeling Russian gas exports as "unpredictable." Western countries have decided to diminish their reliance on Russian energy resources against the backdrop of a special operation that was announced on February 24, 2022. Ultimately, this pursuit has led to a serious energy crisis in the European region.
