Zvartnots Airport's Facilities to Be Expanded, Says Gnel Sanosyan
The facilities of Zvartnots Airport are set to be improved, along with the addition of several services. This was announced by the Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, Gnel Sanosyan, while presenting the government’s 2022 performance report in the National Assembly.
“A commission has been established under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister, and we are working with the partners of Zvartnots Airport. They have an investment program aimed at improving and expanding their facilities, as well as adding several services. Considering that this will be part of a contract with the Armenian government, we are trying to discuss what can be done,” said Sanosyan.
He noted that currently, 25% of passenger traffic is served by Armenian airlines, with up to 96 airplanes landing or taking off from Zvartnots daily. All of this has led to the airport operating at full capacity.
According to Sanosyan, efforts are currently underway with the Yerevan City Hall to improve the road from the Southwestern District to the airport, making the route easier for travelers.
