Tense Situation in the National Assembly

The situation in the National Assembly escalated following the speech of independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan. "My time has run out, but I will not leave the podium; I am conducting a political action," Tovmasyan declared.

Near the podium, Tovmasyan's action was joined by the leader of the "I Have Honor" faction, Hayk Mamijanyan, and fellow MP Anna Mkrtchyan.

Assembly President Alen Simonyan demanded to turn off the microphone and then summoned security staff to the session hall. A scuffle broke out between the MPs and the security personnel.

One opposition MP shouted from the hall that he could spit, to which Alen Simonyan replied, "If necessary, I will spit."
