Video: Death Toll in Sudan Reaches 100, Over 365 Injured

The number of casualties in the clashes in Sudan has reached 100. This is reported by Reuters, citing the Sudan Doctors' Union.

The situation in the country is escalating, yet neither side has shown willingness to engage in negotiations or ceasefire, although they have agreed to open humanitarian corridors.

There is a potential for escalation of the conflict, which may see Egypt intervening on the side of the Sudanese Army, given that Rapid Support Forces have captured several dozen Egyptian soldiers.

On April 13, Arab TV channels reported that the Rapid Support Forces had deployed units in the city of Merowe, located in northern Sudan, and the Sudanese Army demanded their withdrawal.

On Thursday night, the Sudanese Army issued strong statements indicating that the presence of RSF in Khartoum and several other cities was illegal and had occurred without coordination with the Armed Forces.

Media sources suggest that the army's statements were prompted by the sudden deployment of RSF units near the airport in Merowe.

Fighting began between the RSF and the regular army on April 15 in Sudan. The RSF declared that it had taken control of the Republican Palace (presidential palace) in Khartoum, the capital's international airports, as well as the airport in Merowe.

The RSF accused the regular army of attacking its positions in the capital using all types of weapons. The Sudanese Army stated that the RSF's claim was not true and that the Armed Forces controlled all strategic sites, including the presidential palace. Military officials also noted that the RSF was the first to launch attacks against them.

The army and the Sudanese General Security Service declared the RSF a rebel force and accused them of assaulting state and strategic facilities. The head of Sudan's Transitional Sovereign Council and Chief Commander of the Armed Forces, Abdel Fattah Burhan, signed a decree regarding the formation of the RSF.
