The Statue of Karen Demirchyan Will Be Ready This Summer

The statue of Karen Demirchyan will be ready this summer, according to Ashot Sargsyan, a member of the Yerevan Council from the 'My Step' faction.

Previously, it was planned to install the statue of the state and political figure, Armenia's national hero Karen Demirchyan, in front of the Yerevan Sports and Concert Complex. Now there are also plans to improve the area around the statue and create a nearby park. Khoren Grigoryan, the acting head of the construction and landscaping department of Yerevan Municipality, mentioned this in a conversation with 1lurer.am.

“Last year, the construction and landscaping department of the Yerevan municipality commissioned the design and cost estimation documents for the construction of the pedestal and the adjacent park, because our goal was also to obtain green spaces in this area and to have an irrigation system,” he said.

The head of the municipality's construction and landscaping department noted that the entrances to the sports and concert complex and the potential large flows of people during events have been taken into consideration. The aim is to create a cohesive entity with the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex while also having an independently spread park around the statue.

It is worth noting that today marks the birthday of Karen Demirchyan, the former leader of Soviet Armenia, former chairman of the National Assembly, and national hero.
