HAK Demands the Dismissal of Alen Simonyan
The Armenian National Congress (ANC), led by former President Levon Ter-Petrosyan, is proposing to create a public platform with the aim of dismissing National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan. The party issued a statement noting that Simonyan has dealt a humiliating blow to the reputation of Armenia and the entire Armenian people, which, if forgiven, would label us as one of the lowest nations in the world, devoid of dignity.
“History has seen many tyrants who have shot, hanged, beheaded, and even eaten their political opponents, but none have spat in a man’s face before hundreds of people in the city center (in this regard, Alen Simonyan's name deserves a place in the Guinness Book of Records),” the statement reads.
The ANC has called upon human rights organizations, political parties, and media outlets to join this initiative. Meanwhile, it emphasizes that they fully understand that Simonyan's dismissal is primarily the problem of the Civil Contract party. However, for more than two weeks, the party has maintained complete silence regarding this disgraceful incident. Moreover, some members of the Civil Contract party are even trying to justify his actions.
“This means that members of the Civil Contract party willingly assume responsibility for his disgraceful behavior. Therefore, we have the right to henceforth refer to the Civil Contract party as TPK, meaning ‘Civic Contract Party of Spitters.’ The choice is theirs. If they accept this role, let them continue to enjoy the ‘honor’ of being spitters,” the statement emphasizes.
The ANC also highlights that we are currently facing serious external challenges to our security. The government’s response is far from adequate. The Armenian National Congress believes that this not only reflects the current government’s inability but also their arrogant and humiliating attitude towards our people. The party is confident that the incident involving Alen Simonyan is the most disgraceful manifestation of this.
