Government Reports on the Number of Detained Individuals in Azerbaijan

The Armenian government's report on the implementation of the 2022 program addresses the issue of the return of prisoners. According to the report, several humanitarian agreements related to Armenia-Azerbaijan relations remain unaddressed.

"Despite the 8th point of the tripartite statement of November 9, 2020, Azerbaijan continues to hold 33 detained Armenian citizens in captivity to this day," the report states.

The report also reveals that in 2022, 31 detained Armenian citizens were successfully returned.

"The issue of missing persons remains significant in the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. The whereabouts of 975 citizens from the Armenian side are considered unknown, of which 777 are from the first Nagorno-Karabakh war, 196 from the 44-day war, and 2 from the September aggression," the report adds.

In 2022, Armenia returned 35 bones of individuals presumed missing and provided three maps indicating possible burial sites of Azerbaijani bodies to Azerbaijan.
