‘He was a guest specialist there’: About Aram Nikolyan from First Channel

Stylist Aram Nikolyan did not participate in the opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship in Yerevan as an employee of the Public Television. He was there as a guest specialist, First Channel’s Director of Public and International Relations Anna Ohanyan told Sputnik Armenia.

Aram Nikolyan has been the chief stylist of Public Television since 2013. When asked if the stylist would be fired, Anna Ohanyan did not respond. “I have nothing more to add,” she noted.

It is recalled that an incident occurred during the formal opening ceremony of the European Weightlifting Championship. Designer and stylist Aram Nikolyan unexpectedly rushed to the stage, seized the Azerbaijani flag from the hand of the flag bearer, and burned it in front of everyone.

It should be noted that a photo shows Nikolyan with a pass, which suggests that he is a member of the organizing team, possibly responsible for the design of the participants' outfits.

After the incident, Nikolyan was detained and later released. No criminal proceedings will be initiated against him due to the absence of criminal intent.

Additionally, the designer and stylist who burned the Azerbaijani flag, Aram Nikolyan, has stated that his actions were solely a display of pride as a man of Armenian descent. He sent a video message after being released from police custody.
