Vanik Zakaryan, Chess Oscar Winner and Two-Time Champion of Armenia, Passed Away

Vanik Zakaryan, a Chess Oscar winner, an honorary vice-president of FIDE, and a two-time champion of Armenia, has passed away at the age of 87.

Zakaryan is listed in the golden book of FIDE. After many years of engaging in professional chess, he served as the president of the Armenian Chess Federation and was involved in organizing international tournaments. Additionally, since 1977, he held the position of dean at the Faculty of Mathematics of the Armenian State University of Engineering.
