The 'Western Azerbaijan' Community Sends Letter to US Secretary of State
The self-proclaimed 'Western Azerbaijan' community has sent a letter to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, requesting the support of the United States to ensure the peaceful, safe, and dignified return of Azerbaijanis who have left Armenia.
The letter states that 'the Western Azerbaijan community has been active since 1989 to protect the rights of Azerbaijanis displaced from Armenia.' In the letter addressed to the US Secretary of State, as expected, allegations were made against Armenians, claiming that they have allegedly 'been subjected to ethnic cleansing, as well as cultural and religious vandalism.'
'The end of the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan in 2020 creates fertile ground for stable peace between the two countries. While appreciating the ongoing efforts aimed at normalizing interstate relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and supporting US efforts to contribute to this process, we consider it important to ensure the right of Azerbaijanis to return to Armenia through an agreement between the two countries. This is crucial for maintaining peace between the two states.'
'We call on the United States to firmly and consistently uphold our human rights, contributing to the peaceful, dignified, and safe return of Azerbaijanis displaced from Armenia to their homeland by initiating relevant political and security initiatives, as well as social and economic support programs,' states the letter from the Azerbaijanis.
