The Cart is Stuck: Parents of Fallen Soldiers Stage Sit-in Near Investigative Committee

Parents and relatives of soldiers who fell in the 44-day war are again holding a protest action in front of the Investigative Committee's building. The parents insist that “the cart is stuck.”

It should be noted that on the night of September 20-21, the parents of fallen soldiers were on duty at Yerablur to thwart Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's visit to the military pantheon. However, on the morning of September 21, the police forcibly removed them from the area and took the parents of the fallen soldiers to the precinct, allowing government representatives to lay flowers and wreaths.

On the same day, it became known that a service investigation had been initiated into the actions of the police officers by the order of the head of the Armenian Police. The parents have also begun a sit-in near the Investigative Committee, stating, “We demand the immediate accountability of the 12 police officers who have inflicted bodily harm on our mothers.” A march towards the government is also planned.

Additionally, today marks one year since Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated from the podium of the National Assembly, “We could have prevented the war, which would have resulted in the same situation, of course, without casualties.” After this statement, the relatives of the fallen organized protests, claiming that the Prime Minister had self-incriminated himself concerning the crime. They demand accountability from the country's leadership.
