National Security Service Does Not Disclose Area of Territory Under Azerbaijani Control Near Tegh Village
The National Security Service of Armenia has not disclosed the area of Armenian territory under Azerbaijani control in the vicinity of Tegh village in the Syunik region in response to a query from Sputnik Armenia. The agency reiterated Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement regarding the clarification of placement points within a segment of 7 kilometers from the 12-kilometer stretch.
"Work continues in certain sections of the 5 km area, where the Azerbaijani side has intruded into Armenian territory by 100-300 meters," it was noted in the response to the media inquiry.
When asked about the improvements previously announced by the NSS, they mentioned that the Prime Minister has already provided relevant clarifications during a government session. It was pointed out that the response to the inquiry was received prior to the Azerbaijani military provocations on April 11, which resulted in the deaths of 4 and injuries to 6 Armenian servicemen.
Moreover, local residents reported that Azerbaijan controls approximately 100 hectares in that area. Earlier, the Ministry of Defense refused to disclose the total area of Armenian territories occupied by Azerbaijan during 2021-2022.
On March 30, 2023, Armenia's NSS announced the advancement of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces at 5 points along the segment of the road connecting Armenia to the Lachin corridor. At that time, the NSS reported violations of agreements by the Azerbaijani side, mentioning that Baku had begun engineering work without waiting for clarifications. Subsequently, an agreement was reached that the situation would be regulated by the cartographers of both countries.
