Minister Mirzoyan: 'We cannot be guided by Azerbaijani claims'

Contrary to Azerbaijan's claims, the OSCE Minsk Group exists; the issue is that its co-chairing activities are currently frozen for objective and subjective reasons. This statement was made by Armenia's Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of North Macedonia, Bujar Osmani, who is the current Chairperson of the OSCE.

“We cannot be guided by Azerbaijani claims, especially considering the fact that they sometimes have contradictions within themselves. We can recall the example of the Lachin corridor, when Azerbaijan insisted that the corridor was not closed, while simultaneously stating that it was blocked by civil activists. If we were to follow Azerbaijani statements, we would find ourselves in a perfect chaos,” said Mirzoyan.

According to the Minister, Azerbaijan asserts that not only does the Minsk Group not exist, but also that Nagorno-Karabakh and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict do not exist, however, the reality is different. “This format still has tasks to accomplish regarding the security and rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh,” emphasized Mirzoyan. He recalled Mark Twain's famous line: 'These discussions are somewhat exaggerated.'
