"We Predicted the Inevitable": Zakharova on the EU Factor in the South Caucasus
The activation of Western countries in the South Caucasus is causing additional destabilization in the region, which Russia has repeatedly warned about. This statement was made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, commenting on the events that took place yesterday near the village of Tegh in Syunik.
She reiterated that the involvement of other players and structures in the South Caucasus, which have never engaged in the resolution of this old conflict, will not bring any added value.
“And the declared result (achieving peace) will not happen. Instead, unfortunately, it will lead to escalation, destabilization, and will divert from the intended path of achieving a peaceful resolution,” Zakharova emphasized.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry representative, Moscow has conducted an appropriate analysis and has previously expressed its viewpoint. “We have already assessed this, presented our analysis, and predicted the inevitable. Now we begin to observe and contemplate with bitterness and regret various manifestations of how external players’ interventions, which have failed to express themselves constructively, are creating additional destabilization,” she added.
