Increase in Drug Users Among Women, Says Deputy Health Minister
Recently, there has been an increase in the number of drug users, and notably, the age of users has become younger. This information was shared at the National Assembly by Deputy Health Minister Lena Nanushyan.
“In recent years, there has also been an increase in the number of drug users among women. They primarily use synthetic psychoactive substances. The use of these can lead to mental health issues,” said the deputy minister.
She noted that unfortunately, it is not always possible to fully implement prevention measures; however, law enforcement agencies are addressing these issues.
In addition, the Ministry of Health is conducting awareness-raising activities against drug use, as well as providing retraining for healthcare professionals.
According to Nanushyan, over the past two years, they have held meetings with high school students on the dangers of drug use and will continue these meetings.
