I Wouldn't Want That Video to Circulate: Taguhi Tovmasyan
I don't know why the Ministry of Defense has denied it, but I have information that yesterday in Sotk, gunfire of various calibers was heard; I spoke personally with the residents. This was stated by MP Taguhi Tovmasyan during a press briefing with reporters.
“I also learned from the mining workers that they were immediately evacuated from the mining site to neutralize possible dangers; the situation is calm at the moment. Regarding the incidents that occurred in the Tegh community, the area where the shooting took place recently became a frontline, and we saw that there was nothing resembling a frontline there. I believe the circulated video should have been sent to international organizations but not shown to the public, so they wouldn’t see how indifferent or inactive our soldiers were, and when they see the enemy, they don’t eliminate it; that sends a bad signal. There is a textbook truth: if a soldier sees that the enemy is approaching, he has no choice but to eliminate the enemy. I wouldn’t want that video to circulate. I believe that the adequate response of the Armenian soldier was delayed,” the MP stated.
According to Taguhi Tovmasyan, it seemed that there was an attempt to show that Armenia continues to prioritize a peace agenda. Referring to the presence of Azerbaijani soldiers in the Sisian areas, the MP noted, “It is a sad reality and a disgrace that an Azerbaijani soldier can appear, even if lost, not only inside the border of Armenia but also deep enough to enter people’s homes, eat bread, and change clothes. What are our security forces and guarantors of safety doing? Especially when one of them has not been found, and we need to clarify where he is and what plans he has.”
