Open Gaps on Buildings at Republic Square Have Been Closed, Deputy Mayor
Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan has announced that the municipality has summarized the implementation of the 2023 New Year’s lighting program.
“The Yerevan Municipality has today completed the summary of the implementation of the 2023 New Year lighting program. Only those involved in the implementation know how many obstacles were overcome along the way, and ultimately, I must say, the program has been successfully completed. The first basis for this assessment is the feedback from many Yerevan residents, which I personally heard starting from the testing of the decorations through the festive days. Primarily, the joy and good mood of our children, and the awareness of having even a small part in ensuring that has brought great satisfaction, especially considering that in recent years we have unfortunately had many occasions to feel sorrow and sadness. You know that some compatriots also criticized the implementation of the program. The reasons for the criticism were various; some simply did not like the decoration style, while others were confused by the fact that the decoration work was linked to certain buildings' involvement. I assure you that I hold great respect for these opinions as well and believe that we should organize preliminary public awareness work more appropriately in the future.
Taking this opportunity, I would also like to announce that after the dismantling of the New Year decorations, the open gaps on the buildings at Republic Square have been closed, which was initially stipulated in the contract between the contracting organization and the Yerevan Municipality. Familiar with the coverage previously carried out on this topic, I believe that attempts to distort reality for our public may occur again in the future. As I mentioned in my post on December 1, 2022, the buildings at Republic Square have undergone various influences over the years, and the traces of those influences have not been removed to this day. Some individuals have spared no effort to associate all of this with the 2023 New Year program, and I believe such attempts may occur again. Valuing the genuine concern of all individuals for our architectural monuments, I urge those wishing to deliberately distort this subject to refrain from spreading misinformation, as this time you will be obliged to prove all claims in accordance with the law.
Once again, I thank all individuals involved in the implementation of the program,” Deputy Mayor Grigoryan stated.
