Monthly Income of Participants in Military Exercises in Armenia to Be Fully Preserved

Monthly income of participants in military exercises in Armenia will be fully preserved. The Permanent Commission on Labor and Social Issues of the National Assembly of Armenia approved the legislative initiative of the government, which stipulates that the salary of a citizen called for military exercises will be maintained, with part of it covered by the state and the other part by the employer.

The government has deemed this legislative initiative urgent.

The main substance of the draft law remains unchanged. The employer will pay the employee’s base salary plus at least the positive difference calculated as a soldier’s financial support for each working day.

For example, if an employee earns 200,000 AMD and receives 100,000 AMD during the exercises, the employer must at least cover the 100,000 AMD gap.

At the same time, various adjustments have been made in the draft law. As the Deputy Minister noted, private companies will be able to pay the employee’s entire salary (in addition to the paid difference) if they wish, while state enterprises will not be able to make such bonuses (due to wage fund limitations).

“This change will affect those whose relations with their employer are employment-based, not those working under service contracts,” said the Deputy Minister.

Furthermore, it is clarified that the support extends to a period of up to 30 calendar days for participation in the exercises.

It should be reminded that the regular military exercises for reservists will take place in Armenia from April 15 to June 15.
