North Korea Has Not Responded to Calls from South Korea for Two Days
Representatives of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have not responded to calls made to the military communication line from the Republic of Korea (ROK) for the second consecutive day. According to TASS, this was reported on Saturday by the Yonhap news agency, referencing the South Korean armed forces.
“For an unknown reason, there have been no regular telephone calls from the North. We will continue to monitor the situation, considering all possibilities, including technical issues on the northern side,” the agency quoted a representative of the armed forces.
The DPRK has not reacted to calls along the military communication line, with representatives from both countries typically making calls twice a day. Additionally, on April 7, there was no communication via the inter-Korean liaison office. Unlike the military line, the liaison office does not operate on weekends.
On Friday, Seoul noted that there were no technical issues on the South Korean side. The last occurrence of such a situation took place in June 2022, reportedly due to malfunctions caused by heavy rains.
