Every Couple Should Have 3 Children: Armen Muradyan

In Armenia, the population aged 60 and older exceeds that of children aged 5, which is concerning, as this age group requires caregivers to ensure their social and economic security. This was noted by Armen Muradyan, the rector of Yerevan State Medical University, during a conference on "Health Aspects of Improving Demographic Situation in Armenia."

"Demographic indicators are essential safety guarantees for every nation and its statehood. Experts will discuss key indicators affecting demographic data, particularly birth rates, mortality rates, and migration processes, and will attempt to shape professional opinions regarding reproductive new tools and their accessibility," stated Muradyan.

The rector emphasized the importance of each family having 3 or more children. In his opinion, this is critically important for Armenia. "In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of families having a third child. The statistics confirm this, but nonetheless, for clear reproduction, every couple should have 3 children," he said.

David Melik-Nubaryan, head of the Clinical Work Organization Department at Yerevan State Medical University, pointed out that recognizing the importance of this issue and evaluating the significant work being done by government bodies to improve the demographic situation, the necessity of organizing the conference was established.
