Ukraine Prepares 40,000 Personnel for Counteroffensive
The Ukrainian command intends to use a so-called Offensive Guard composed of 40,000 personnel against the Russian army in the zone of special military operations, RT reports, citing Reuters.
“The Steel Border is one of eight new assault brigades, totaling 40,000 troops,” the agency states.
It is assumed that Ukraine plans to employ these personnel, along with the received military equipment, for a counteroffensive “in the coming weeks or months.”
The article also notes that a failure in offensive operations could disrupt Western optimism and compel allies to start pushing Kyiv towards negotiations with Moscow.
On April 1, Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs Igor Klimenko announced the completion of the formation of the Offensive Guard’s eight brigades, aimed at capturing Crimea and the Republics of Donbas.
