Turkey's Defense Minister: 'We Support the Resolution of Relations Between Armenia and Azerbaijan'
Turkey's relations with Armenia are dependent on Armenian-Azerbaijani relations. This was stated by Turkey's National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar during a seminar dedicated to Armenian events.
According to him, Armenia 'occupied Azerbaijani lands 30 years ago, resulting in more than a million Azerbaijanis leaving their homeland.' Akar noted, 'The inability of the OSCE Minsk Group to resolve the conflict led to an escalation of aggression from Armenia. As a result, Azerbaijan liberated its lands from occupation in 2020.' He emphasized, 'Armenia must accept the hand of peace and friendship extended to it. We also support steps towards the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.'
