Today, Alen is unfortunately not a thug establishing himself in 'besedka', but a high-ranking official: Suren Surenyants
Political analyst Suren Surenyants addressed the incident involving the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, and citizen Karen Mkrtchyan on his Facebook page:
“The National Assembly is a den of thugs, and it is unlikely that the ‘Gadeks’ will sacrifice one of their own, even for the sake of the state. What Speaker Alen Simonian has done in the last few days goes beyond even a basic understanding of morality, let alone being discussed in the context of the high position he occupies.
For Alen and other revolutionary novices, strolling around the city center has become a crude display of power. During yet another ‘walk’ fetishizing brute strength, Alen spat in the face of a citizen who dared to label him a ‘traitor’. To add a political undertone to his cynicism, our ‘hero’ began concocting the notion of a ‘dashnak provocation’, even fabricating a story about the imaginary beating of Ashot Pashinyan. Ashot has, of course, already accused Alen of spreading ‘false information’, but the self-expressive fanaticism that Simonian suffers from does not even allow him to realize the heavy blow he has dealt to the state (by spitting on a citizen), to Nikol Pashinyan (whom he has essentially accused of being an irresponsible parent), and to the NSS (which is officially obliged to ensure Ashot Pashinyan’s safety).
However, we will leave the question concerning the relationship between Alen and Nikol to the domain of these two individuals, as well as consider the reputation of the NSS as a matter of the professional and moral honor of those running that institution. Let’s address the issue of the discrediting of citizens and Alen or the state. Today, Alen is unfortunately not a thug establishing himself in ‘besedka’, but a high-ranking official who spits not only in the face of one citizen but in the faces of all who dare to tell the government that it has ‘eyebrows above the eyes’. This is the end of the state, and it is entirely logical that Armenia’s first president, Levon Ter-Petrosyan, insists that the National Assembly must initiate the dismissal of Alen Simonian.
Nonetheless, yesterday’s discussions on candidates for the Ombudsman in the National Assembly revealed that the current National Assembly is a den of thugs and it is unlikely that the ‘Gadeks’ will sacrifice one of their own, even for the sake of the state. Nevertheless, thanks to the First President, for once again exposing the political and moral bankruptcy of the current authority with a concise post,” wrote Surenyants.
