Iranian MPs Issue Statement Condemning Azerbaijan
Iranian parliament members have issued a statement condemning the opening of the Azerbaijani embassy in Tel Aviv. They have called on the Iranian Foreign Ministry to take necessary diplomatic measures in this regard, as reported by parstoday.ir.
The statement from 210 members of parliament regarding the opening of Azerbaijan's embassy in Israel's capital highlights that the Azerbaijani government is acting against the interests of the Islamic world amidst widespread astonishment at this decision.
The statement further argues that this decision by the Azerbaijani government is fraught with numerous negative political consequences for Baku, and that Muslims around the world will consider the Azerbaijani authorities as a specific accomplice of Israel in the killings of oppressed Palestinians and in crimes against them.
The Iranian parliamentary statement reads: “This step by Baku is regarded as an action against Palestine, the most oppressed part of the Islamic world, and contributes to the violation of the inalienable rights of Palestinians. Therefore, we call on all Arab and Islamic governments, the entire Islamic world, especially the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Secretariat of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union, as well as the freedom-loving people of the world, to condemn this act.”
