Finland's NATO Membership Increases Risk of Conflicts in Europe: Global Times
The security landscape in Europe has become even more unstable as Finland officially became the 31st member of NATO, reports the Global Times.
Chinese experts believe this move "brings Finland to the forefront of confrontation with Russia and could encourage Moscow to activate the deployment of nuclear weapons."
According to Li Haidong, a professor at the Institute of International Relations at China Foreign Affairs University, "Finland has lost its function as a bridge between Russia and Europe, which demonstrates the lack of strategic vision among Finnish decision-makers."
Earlier, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented that Finland's status as a NATO member and Sweden's push to join the Alliance have put an end to the security era in the Nordic region.
Recall that on April 4, Finland officially became a NATO member.
