Video: Days Spent in Disciplinary Battalion Will Not Be Counted Toward Soldier's Service Time, Says Sargsyan
Serving in a disciplinary battalion will not be considered part of the main service period, meaning that the days spent in such a battalion will not be deducted from the service time required. This was stated today by Deputy Defense Minister Arman Sargsyan during a session of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Defense and Security.
According to him, soldiers who commit disciplinary violations are transferred to a disciplinary battalion (gauvakh), and during their time there, they continue to be regarded as soldiers. “However, during this time, while the soldier is in the disciplinary battalion, they will not be considered a soldier, and the term will not elapse,” Sargsyan said.
Committee Chairman Andranik Kocharyan assured that this is the most important and priority reform, as it will clearly change the quality of service.
