Public Park in Petah Tikva, Israel Renamed After Charles Aznavour
The public park in Petah Tikva, Israel has been renamed in honor of the world-famous chansonnier Charles Aznavour. According to reports from Armenpress, this was announced by the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem.
It is noted that the decision to name the public park after Charles Aznavour was unanimously adopted by the Petah Tikva City Council, led by Mayor Rami Greenberg.
Attending the opening ceremony from the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem were the Bishop T. Aghan Gogchyan and the Reverend T. Vazgen Abg. Alekian.
On the commemorative plaque unveiled in the park, the following inscription can be found: “Charles Aznavour (1924-2018): Singer, songwriter, actor, French, global chansonnier, who dedicated his life to his homeland Armenia and was honored with the title of National Hero. During World War II, the Aznavour family succeeded in saving dozens of Jewish families from extermination.”
