Fatalities and Numerous Incidents: Electric Scooter Rentals to End in Paris
Starting September 1, electric scooter rentals will cease in Paris, announced the city's mayor, Anne Hidalgo.
This marks the first time such a referendum has been conducted. A total of 103,000 voters participated out of 1.3 million eligible voters in Paris. The decision was made due to the necessity of improved safety conditions.
In 2022, there were 456 incidents involving electric scooters in Paris, resulting in 3 fatalities. However, the ban will not apply to residents who own personal electric scooters.
