Criminal Proceedings Initiated Following Collapse at 'Alraghats' Company Site

The Investigative Committee of Armenia reports that a notification was received regarding the collapse of a building at the 'Alraghats' LLC site located at 2 Nar-Dos Street, Yerevan, on April 1, 2023. During the demolition of storage rooms, debris fell onto a neighboring toy warehouse as well as onto the railway lines of Yerevan's metro, causing substantial damage to both the lessee of the toy warehouse and the property owner.

In connection with the incident, on April 1, the Investigative Committee initiated criminal proceedings under Article 264, Part 2, Section 6 of the RA Criminal Code in the administrative divisions of Erebuni and Nubarashen.

During the preliminary investigation, it was revealed that the demolition work on the non-operational storage facility of 'Alraghats' LLC was carried out by an individual entrepreneur who had previously demolished several other storage facilities under a corresponding contract with 'Alraghats' LLC.

As part of the proceedings, interrogations have been conducted, necessary documents have been collected, and a comprehensive engineering and technical examination has been appointed. The investigation continues to determine the circumstances surrounding the collapse, the compliance of the conducted demolition works with safety and construction norms, and the adherence to the terms and conditions of work permits and contracts.
