One Dead and Injured: Accidental Gunfire Among Armenian Soldiers, Azerbaijani Forces Also Opened Fire

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia reports that on March 31, at around 22:50, an accidental exchange of gunfire occurred among the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia in the southeastern border zone under extremely low visibility conditions. During the incident, gunfire also came from the Azerbaijani side.

Following the incident, the body of conscript Hratchya Ara Sarukhanyan was found with a fatal gunshot wound. Another soldier was wounded; however, the life of the injured soldier is not in danger.

An investigation is underway to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia shares the heavy grief of the loss and expresses its support to the family, relatives, and colleagues of Hratchya Sarukhanyan.
