MP Mher Sahakyan's Hand Broken, Lawyer Reports to Investigative Committee
The MP from the 'Armenia' faction, Mher Sahakyan, has been diagnosed with a broken right hand following an X-ray examination. This information was provided by Mher Sahakyan's lawyer, Ruben Melikyan.
“This circumstance completely and definitively refutes the preliminary version of the investigative body that the blow was inflicted with some object,” he wrote on his Facebook page.
It should be noted that it was revealed yesterday that a confrontation occurred between the pro-government MP Vladimir Vardanyan and Mher Sahakyan during a closed session of the National Assembly's Permanent Commission on Legal Affairs.
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reported that the police received a notification stating that Mher Sahakyan had made unfounded remarks to Vladimir Vardanyan for speaking in a loud voice, and then approached and struck Vardanyan on the left eyebrow with some object in his right hand, resulting in Vardanyan falling.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the features of Article 297, Part 3 (hooliganism committed with an object intended for causing bodily harm or prepared for that purpose) and Article 195, Part 2, Clause 1 (physical violence against a person or their close relatives in connection with the person's public, political, official, professional, or social activities).
Mher Sahakyan has been arrested on the basis of reasonable suspicion of committing an allegedly criminal act and has been taken to the police division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia. Meanwhile, Vladimir Vardanyan has been taken to the 'Nairi' medical center for treatment due to his injuries. He has been recognized as the victim, and a forensic medical examination has been commissioned.
