Whoever Attacks Syunik Will Also Attack My Region: President of France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

The fate of Artsakh is closely linked to the fate of Syunik, which is the key to Armenia's integrity. This belief was expressed by Laurent Wauquiez, the President of France's Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, during a press conference.

"That is why we have decided to have a cooperation agreement between our region and Syunik. The agreement was signed in a very symbolic place—the Tatev Monastery. The cooperation will focus on healthcare, agriculture, and education. I have said, whoever attacks Syunik will also attack my region," emphasized Laurent Wauquiez.

Calling for attention from the French and international communities, Wauquiez also noted: "This is not a dispute between two countries where the borders are not clearly defined and can last indefinitely; this is a complete disregard for human rights protected by all international conventions, and it is a will to annihilate a people, its culture, its history, and its memory. This is, of course, Armenia's struggle, Artsakh's struggle, but it is a larger struggle—it is the fight for all the values we hold. It is a battle for civilization and democracy. To defend you means to defend all those values."
