Turkey's Parliament Approves Finland's NATO Membership Application
Turkey's Parliament approved Finland's application to join NATO on the night of March 31. All 276 present members unanimously voted in favor. This information was reported by Anadolu Agency.
Turkey was the last of NATO's 30 member countries to ratify Helsinki's application to join the military alliance. The penultimate country, Hungary, approved the application on March 27.
On March 1, the Finnish Parliament ratified a law allowing Finland to join the alliance. The President of Finland confirmed on his Twitter account that NATO members have approved his country's membership. He expressed gratitude for the support and trust, stating, 'Finland will be a strong and capable ally that is committed to NATO's security.'
He also expressed hope that Sweden would join soon.
