Trump Faces More Than 30 Charges
Former President Donald Trump has been charged with more than 30 counts, including those related to business fraud, CNN reports citing informed sources. Previously, American media had reported that a grand jury in New York voted in favor of indicting Trump in the Stormy Daniels case.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has demanded that former President Donald Trump appear in court to testify regarding the nature of the charges brought against him in the Stormy Daniels case, media outlets report.
In January 2018, The Wall Street Journal published an article stating that Trump allegedly had an affair with actress Stormy Daniels in 2006 and paid her $130,000 shortly before the 2016 presidential election to keep quiet about it. Trump himself has denied having any personal relationship with Daniels.
Trump has labeled the charges in the Stormy Daniels case as a “political witch hunt” and “the highest level of electoral interference in history.” He stated, “Never before has anything like this been done in the history of our country,” continuing, “I believe this witch hunt will backfire on Joe Biden.”
