Negotiations for CSTO Military Exercises Preparation Held with Armenia's Participation

The first staff negotiations for the preparation of joint exercises with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) collective forces planned for 2023 have taken place at the CSTO joint headquarters. This information was provided by the press service of the headquarters.

Representatives from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, as well as representatives from the CSTO Secretariat and the Joint Staff participated in the negotiations held from March 28 to 30.

The exercises with the CSTO forces in 2023 will take place in the form of the "Combat Brotherhood" joint operational and strategic exercise. It has been noted that this is the highest form of joint preparation organized by the organization.

“All elements of the Collective Security System will be activated in different regions of the CSTO responsibility zone,” the press service reported.

During the negotiations, the concepts for conducting joint exercises, the composition of the involved management bodies and troops, and questions concerning organization of command were discussed.

Within the framework of the “Combat Brotherhood-2023” joint operational and strategic exercise, a complex of activities is planned. It is noted that for the first time, the special exercise on radiological, chemical, and biological protection titled “Barrier-2023” is planned to be held on the territory of Belarus.

During the final phase of the “Combat Brotherhood-2023” joint operational and strategic exercise in the Central Asia region of collective security, a joint exercise titled “Unbreakable Brotherhood-2023” is planned to be held with CSTO peacekeeping forces. Issues concerning post-conflict resolution in crisis zones will be addressed in Kyrgyzstan through the conduct of peacekeeping operations.
