Anti-Corruption Committee Closes Criminal Proceedings Against Vardazaryan and Jhangiryan

According to exclusive information from the newspaper "Zhoghovurd", the Anti-Corruption Committee has also closed the criminal proceedings initiated regarding the controversial recording of former Supreme Judicial Council presidents Ruben Vardazaryan and Gagik Jhangiryan.

This information was confirmed by the press service of the Anti-Corruption Committee. It appears that the case regarding the recording of the former presidents of the Supreme Judicial Council, in which they discussed how pressure was exerted on Jhangiryan to punish Vardazaryan, is the result of clashes between the Investigative Committee of Armenia and the Office of the Prosecutor General.

Initially, the criminal proceedings initiated regarding this noisy recording were under investigation by the Investigative Committee. After examining the case for six months, the Investigative Committee did not recognize Ruben Vardazaryan as a victim, no one was involved as a suspect in the criminal proceedings, and the case was closed. This sparked the "conflict".

Arthur Poghosyan, the deputy of the Prosecutor General, reopened the case based on the decision of the Investigative Committee's investigator to close the proceedings. And so, the Anti-Corruption Committee, led by Sasun Khachatryan, investigated the closed case for nearly three months, yet did not summon either Vardazaryan or Jhangiryan for questioning. Essentially, no investigative actions were taken, and the decision was made to close the case. Reports suggest that the intrigue lies deeper, which will be addressed in the near future.

Details will be available in today's issue of the newspaper.
