"A Threat to All Humanity": Musk and Wozniak Call for Halt to AI Training
Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, along with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, philanthropist Andrew Yang, and over a thousand other artificial intelligence researchers have called for an immediate halt to the training of AI systems that are "more powerful than OpenAI's GPT-4." This was stated in a letter published on the website of the Future of Life nonprofit organization.
The authors of the letter, including Musk and Wozniak, pointed out the dangers to humanity associated with the further development of artificial intelligence systems that possess "human-like competitive intelligence." They urged a complete suspension of training for any artificial intelligence system for six months.
"Powerful AI systems should be developed only when we are confident that their effects will be positive and that the risks are manageable," the text states.
