Russian Special Forces Conduct Joint Exercises in Armenia's Mountainous Regions
The personnel of the special operations unit of the Russian Ministry of Defense's Southern Military District conducted joint exercises in a high-altitude training area in Armenia. The servicemen practiced reconnaissance and search operations in mountainous terrains, established methods for organizing shelters under varying topographical conditions, and learned types of concealment using available resources. They also improved their map reading and azimuth navigation skills, while studying methods of movement concealed from view on the ground.
In addition, the special operations units carried out rapid fire drills with conventional weapons against various targets from different distances and positions. Soldiers of the Southern Military District acquired survival and safe behavior skills under conditions of oxygen deprivation, temperature fluctuations, and atmospheric pressure variations in mountainous areas.
