"I Refuse to Hold Armenian Citizenship" Says Boxer Erik Israelian

"My beloved Armenian nation, I want to inform you once again that I became the European and World Champion in 2022. Armenia has not had a World Champion in boxing for 13 years, and after a 13-year hiatus, I became the World Champion once again. Let me emphasize that in just one year, I became both the European Champion and the World Champion. Until today, nothing has been done for my titles. I have always wanted to raise the flag of my Armenian nation and hear the anthem, but I am a human too, and it shouldn't be treated this way towards the champion of the Armenian nation. This is boxing, not a dance.

What I want to say is, my beloved Armenian nation, I refuse to hold Armenian citizenship and am leaving for another country, where I will fight from there. Remember the name Erik Israelian," wrote boxer Erik Israelian on his Facebook page.
