India Launches Rocket Carrying 36 OneWeb Communication Satellites

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched an SSLV 3 heavy rocket on Sunday morning, carrying 36 communication satellites for OneWeb.

The launch took place at 09:00 AM local time (07:30 AM Yerevan time) from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, located on Sriharikota Island in the southeastern part of the country. The Indian space agency streamed the launch live on its YouTube channel.

This launch will finalize the deployment of over 600 low earth orbit satellites for OneWeb, which aims to provide high-speed internet to every corner of the globe from space. This marks the second time OneWeb has utilized ISRO’s services for satellite launches. The first batch of 36 satellites was launched by an Indian rocket on October 23 of last year.
