Two Individuals Arrested for State Treason, Says Artsakh Investigative Committee
The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Artsakh has initiated proceedings in March of this year regarding criminal cases initiated in accordance with Article 310, Part 1 of the Artsakh Criminal Code within the National Security Service.
During the preliminary investigation, it was established that two residents of Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh, had established contact through social media with representatives of special services from the Republic of Azerbaijan. In exchange for favorable offers and periodic remuneration, they transferred confidential and highly sensitive information, including details regarding the safety of Artsakh citizens, the overall state of the economy, social programs under blockade conditions, changes within the government, presidential decrees, and other information concerning the residents of the Republic of Artsakh, thereby committing acts of state treason.
The two individuals have been arrested by the investigative body, and they have been charged under Article 310, Part 1 of the Artsakh Criminal Code, with detention being selected as a preventive measure based on a combination of sufficient evidence obtained during the preliminary investigation.
The Artsakh Investigative Committee urges and warns the public to exercise extreme vigilance and caution, especially in the online domain, not to succumb to enticing offers, and to refrain from disclosing even seemingly insignificant information to other users.
It is reminded that recompense is inevitable, and for every act that undermines the foundations of the state, in addition to bearing guilt towards one’s own conscience and the memory of our thousands of martyrs, individuals will also bear strict responsibility in accordance with the law.
Notice: An individual suspected or accused of a crime is considered innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of Artsakh and a legally binding court verdict.
