VIDEO. How Macron Discreetly Removes His Watch

French President Emmanuel Macron discreetly lowered his hands under the table during an interview with journalists and removed a luxury watch from his wrist. This moment has gained significant attention on social media, particularly in excerpts from Macron's interview featured on the France 2 and TF1 channels' "13 Hours" program.

While discussing the 'minimum wage earners' who 'have never gained as much purchasing power as they have now', he cautiously placed his elegant watch under the table,” tweeted Clémence Gauthier, a member of the 'Unconquered France' party.

Many interpreted the President’s action as intentional, suggesting that Macron removed the luxury watch from view to avoid aggravating the situation of protesters from unions unhappy with pension reforms and to minimize discomfort for low-income individuals during his discussion.

Meanwhile, the French presidential office noted that the gesture could have been a technical necessity; the president had been gesticulating actively during the interview, and the watch was reportedly banging against the table, creating a sound distraction. "The President did not remove the watch to hide it, but because it was hitting the table too hard," an official from the Élysée Palace explained to journalists.
