Video: Armenian School Burns Down in Abkhazia - What We Know

On Thursday evening, a fire broke out at the school in the village of Araghich in the Ochamchira district of Abkhazia, completely engulfing the two-storey building. This was reported to TASS by Lev Kvitstinian, the Minister of Emergency Situations of Abkhazia. It is noted that this is an Armenian school, as Araghich is predominantly inhabited by Armenians.

“By the time firefighters arrived, despite the rain, the school was completely burned down. Five fire-fighting units participated in the response. According to preliminary information, the fire could have started due to a short circuit,” Kvitstinian stated.

According to school employees, the library, the entire second floor, classrooms, and the principal's office were destroyed, and documents could not be saved. Approximately 80 children study at this school.
