Pashinyan's New Directive Against Media: 'Joghvorquot'
According to the daily 'Joghvorquot', a new directive has been issued by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which is again directed against the media. This time, the directive instructs authorities to investigate the assets and income of the heads of registered and operating media outlets in the Republic of Armenia.
This directive has been communicated to law enforcement agencies to conduct research and report back directly to Prime Minister Pashinyan. This can be viewed as yet another move against the media following various legislative initiatives. Initial results regarding this latest directive have already emerged.
Specifically, during a conversation with journalists, MP Vahagn Aleksanyan from the ruling Civil Contract party mentioned that the deputy editor of 'Hetq' has also acquired a house in the 'Biurakan' neighborhood. In any case, it is a fact that today the authorities consider the media and journalists to be their number one enemy.
