Employees of the Surmalu shopping center are demanding the opening of the center and permission to work. During a protest at the shopping center, one employee stated, 'Tomorrow, inspectors are coming to check, and we are coming to work like one person; if the market was closed for three violations, we will close these streets too. We all have cars.'

It is noteworthy that, based on the decision of the Inspectorate, the Surmalu shopping center has been closed since March 14. Numerous violations of technical and fire safety regulatory documents have been discovered there. Elena Zograbyan, spokesperson for the Inspection Body for Urban Development, Technical and Fire Safety, noted that there were 51 violations of fire and technical safety standards found in the Surmalu shopping center. She added that the center has not yet been reopened because the violations have not been rectified.
