Taliban Leader Orders All Relatives in Government Jobs to be Dismissed

According to BBC reports, the leader of the Taliban movement, Hibatullah Akhundzada, has ordered Afghan officials to remove their relatives from government positions.

The decree states that officials must dismiss appointed sons or other family members and refrain from employing relatives in the future.

The Taliban had already dismissed several high-ranking officials when they took power in 2021, while others fled the country.

The Afghan Islamic Press, operating in Pakistan, reports that the decree followed news that several senior Taliban officials had appointed their sons to government positions.

The Taliban's treatment of women has also angered the international community and deepened the country's isolation as the economy collapses. Currently, girls and women are banned from attending secondary schools and universities in most parts of Afghanistan.
