Incident After Victory: Manvelyan Discusses Azerbaijani Wrestler's Attack

I've competed in four matches, winning three of them, and only lost in the finals to a Romanian wrestler. In the early matches, I triumphed over Azerbaijani and Turkish athletes. In my last bout, I made many mistakes and lost 3-7; I have to work on correcting those mistakes. This was stated by Karapet Manvelyan, who recently became a silver medalist at the European Championship in Greco-Roman wrestling for under-23s, during a press conference.

It is worth mentioning that the Azerbaijani wrestler Rahim Hasanov, who fought against Armenia's Karapet Manvelyan, was disqualified recently. The incident occurred after Manvelyan approached Hasanov for a handshake following his victory, but Hasanov struck the Armenian wrestler instead.

“When competing against such opponents, there is definitely a psychological aspect. You must win at all costs; you have to achieve that victory. The incident with the Azerbaijani wrestler happened during the handshake. I extended my hand, and he hit me. I can't say why. He was immediately disqualified, and the situation was smoothed out with the intervention of the coaches,” he added.
